"Well maybe I thought it was you for a second and that I wanted to make sure, up close and personal. You're lucky I didn't mistake her for you," he said, a wide grin on his face. He noticed they were now in the Macalania forest and he looked down the path. There was one in front of him, then there was another one farther down that jutted away from the path and looked like it was a dead end. "Come on, let's take a short-cut." He tugged her along, walking toward that one odd path. Of course.. there was always the sheen of the 'invisible' path moving upward as you got closer.
Baralai smirked, nodding and turning around. "You're right. So when I find something that makes me feel like I'm not just a leader puppet, I'll make sure to tell you the good news," he said, waving a hand for her to follow if she was still going with him. He began walking. Being Praetor can't be all bad...you just need a break from it for awhile." I wish I could take a break, but it wouldn't last long.. Maybe a couple of hours at most.. He sighed to himself, shaking his head. Oh well, maybe he could try sometime. Who knows, maybe it'll be a miracle if he was left alone for once.

"I'm lucky?" she said with a laugh, "I think you were the lucky one. We both would have killed you if you did that, y'know. Azul doesn't like people getting in her face and well... I don't like it when people mistake other people for me." Rikku grinned back and followed him willingly, he didn't need to tug on her arm. "A short-cut? Okay sounds good to me." she commented gazing around, grin turning to a frown. She sighed, "It's such a shame this lace is disappearing, but hey...y'know it's disappearing really slowly. That's weird, and for some reason it seems extra...lively?" Her frown disappeared, replaced with a confused look. "It doesn't make any sense, shouldn't it look dead instead of alive?".
---------------
"Leader puppet...?" she asked confusingly. She smirked, "That's silly. If you were a puppet then you wouldn't have lied to that girl, I don't think the 'Council' would want you to do that. Therefore you are not a puppet, besides you don't even have strings." Azul held back a laugh and continued to follow him, "But okay, instead of telling me that.. tell me when you find something that makes you happy or something, it'll be interesting to here." Her emerald gaze scanned around bringing in the view. "Sometimes it's hard to find things that make you happy, but there's something out there y'know. You just have to look for it, who knows...maybe it'll be a short search." she said staring blankly up at the sky, as if she were lost in her own little world. There wasn't a grin on her face, it looked more like a frown, "I'm...still searching."

They finally reached the odd path and Gippal continued onward and soon he started to walked at an upward slant. "I'm sure this place will be lively no matter what state.. All sparkly and shiney and whatnot.." he said, rubbing the back of his head with his free hand. "Macalania Woods isn't any normal forest. It's beautiful, like someone I know." He glanced at her, a half smile, half smirk on his face.
Baralai stopped and looked back at her. "I don't think searching would be much... of a way to find something. I'm sure that something or someone will appear on their own when you least expect it..." he said. He grabbed her wrist loosely and tugged lightly. "Come on. Don't worry about, all right? Like I said, it'll come in time.."

"I know...but it just seems more shiny and more sparkly..." she commented with a shrug. "Maybe it's just my imagination...". Oh, but it wasn't her imagination...not at all. The woods really did seem to be more alive, as if the dying process was regressing. But why would that ever happen? The Fayth was gone...wasn't it? Rikku glanced back at him as she heard what he said, "Oh...who? Do I know her...?" she asked with a slight frown that she tried to hide, it was hard not to.
-----------------
"I guess....but how do you know when it happens?" she asked looking up at him with her bright swirling eyes. Azul sighed, "Is there even a way to tell?" She played with one of her braids with her free hand, twirling it around her finger then letting it loose again. "Heh they always said life was the hardest game you'd ever play..." she said, "So many rules....and many people try to find their way around them...then they end up losing...and the Game is over...". Azul nodded to his last words, "I sure hope so....waiting is such torture...."

"Know her? Of course you do. It'd be pretty sad if you didn't, seeing as you've lived with her for.. well, your whole life." He decided to leave her in the dust to think about it for a while. It was, for the time being, the best possible way to torture her for slapping him earlier like she had. The handprint was still there, but it was slightly faded, to his luck.
"You'll know because it'll pretty much hit you right in the face when you realize it. Other than that, there's no way to tell, so don't let anything pass you by. But that doesn't mean take every opportunity life gives you, because it could be a trick," he said. "So don't fight life. If you don't fight against it, there's no way to lose. The only reason why people think there are rules is simply because they themselves put them there. That was the reason why every race hated each other and they all had their speculations. Why else do you think Gippal and I are friends, despite that he is an Al Bhed and I'm a Yevonite? We put the rules past us and gave up fighting the truth beyond what people say is really the truth."

"Oh..." she replied a frown appearing on her face. She wasn't exactly sure who knew meant, there weren't that many people who were girls that she has lived with for her whole life. There was Azul, but she hadn't lived with her the whole time. "I...don't know..." she said with a hint of sadness in her voice, "Well whoever she is, she's lucky." Rikku sighed, emerald gaze toward the ground, so it had been a joke the whole time. The frown didn't seem to go away as she stared at the ground, "Yeah...lucky..."
--------------
Azul nodded, "Yeah, that's true. Heh, I don't even know why I mention rules, it's not like I follow them anyways." She had a devious smirk on her face, "Why else would I have chosen to be a Thief? Well you know, not literally...but still." Azul just laughed, "You see...." she said taking a step away from him, "Thieves...are tricky. They're sly, cunning...and have a way with words, hmm?" Her arms crossed across her chest, "Although you have no need to worry....or do you?" Azul grinned at him, walking forward some. "So...when you say you'll realize it when it hits you in the face, explain...I've heard there are others ways to tell. Hmm...". She shrugged running a hand through her blonde hair, "I guess you'll just know. Interesting....Heh, Life is complicated, but that makes it fun." Azul probably wasn't making any sense, but that was what she lived for...to confuse people.

Gippal looked over at Rikku with a smile, but it quickly faded when he saw her sad face. Maybe she just wasn't good at realizing what was so close and so easy to see. He stopped right at the fork of the hidden path, one leading forward toward the entrance of the forest and the other going upward a little toward a bright, large crystal-like orb. He turned toward her, catching her chin lightly in his hand and making her look at him. "Rikku, that's the thing. It's not you who's lucky. It's me, because I get to see you every day and I can't possibly take it when you're frowning like that. I was talking about you, not some other girl. So.. keep that smile on, okay?" he said, his hand slipping from her chin and lightly carressing her right cheek. "After all this time, I can't believe you actually thought I'd forget about you and move on. It may have seemed like that on the outside, but its a whole lot different here, on the inside."
"Yeah, you're right. They're sly, cunning, smart... weird. It doesn't phase me a bit," he said, returning one of his own grins as he kept moving forward. They were almost at the Macalania Woods and then they'd have to turn left to head toward the Calm Lands. "And when it hits you in the face, it means it'll be so suddenly you'll hardly believe it at first, but its there. When a day passes by and you still have that feeling, that's when it's true." Baralai spun his rod in circles with his fingers deftly in boredom, as if he had done it many times before. It was just a habit.

Rikku's face had turned a bright pink and she smiled up at him. "Really? You mean that...?" she asked curiously. Her arms went around him in a hug and she wore that famous bright grin of hers. "You know...you didn't have to speak in riddles." she told him with a laugh resting her head against his shoulder. "You know those things only confuse me...". She smirked slightly, "You better not be saying that about another girl, I'd have to hurt you." she teased with another laugh, deep down she was relieved and very happy as well.
------------
She scoffed, "So first you compliment me then you insult me? Although....that's not really an insult. I'll take that as a compliment as well. I enjoy being weird thank you very much. It makes me different from everyone else, that's how I like to be." Azul said to him smirking, still following. Azul watched him spin the rod around, "Someone's bored....." she said teasingly now walking beside him yet again. "Hmm...do you get bored a lot? It kind of seems that way. You should try having some fun for a change, really. Don't you think the investigation can wait? It's not like the cave is going to disappear, it'll be there tomorrow. Just take the day off today, you'll feel much better. I guarantee it." Azul tilted her head to the side looking up at him, "Oh come on, you know you want to. One day isn't going to make a difference, seriously. I know what I'm talking about...yeah thats a surprise, but you have to believe me on this one."

Gippal laughed lightly, wrapping his arms around her as well. "Of course I mean what I said. There's never gonna be another girl to say that to, ever. Now if you keep hitting me like you did, I'd just have to continue talking in riddles until you confuse yourself into doing something totally stupid or totally embarrassing," he said with a grin.
Baralai held back a sigh and looked off to his right, away from Azul, thinking. She was very persistant in pursuading him to take a day off. He may even consider it, but what if more people came up missing? What would he say then? Oh, I went and took a day off with this weird Al Bhed girl because she insisted that I could wait a day and the cave would still be there. But she so happenly forgot to mention people that may have walked by there went missing.. he thought, testing it out. He let out a sigh this time, stopping in his tracks and holding his rod still. "So what happens when someone goes missing and I'm not there to help them?" he asked, but he continued to walk before she could really answer. Maybe she was right. He was strung up in so much work that he wasn't very social in the nicest ways and he was just plain boring. "What exactly do you have in mind for a day off...?"

She continued smirking, "And if you do that...then I'd just hit you again. You'll never win Gippal, never." she told him glad that she was the one in his arms. "But I'm glad that I'm yours, y'know..I don't know what I'd do...without you...". Rikku almost felt like crying, but good tears. She held them back though, it would only be that embarrassing opportunity he was waiting for. A sigh escaped her, "Hmm...so what do you think Azul and Baralai are doing? Killing each other?"
---------------
"Well, nothing would happen." she said simply, sticking to her opinion. "Last time someone disappeared you weren't there to be their....knight in a white robe..." Her last few words made a smirk form across her face. "Actually, not even a nice. I don't see your Chocobo anywhere." Azul rolled her eyes, poking him gently, "You can't be responsible for everything, I'm sure nobody will disappear. If you haven't noticed already, the disappearances are set far apart. Weeks to be exact. So there wouldn't be one today or in the next few days, sir." She looked away from him, it was fun mocking his little messenger girl. She did a good job at it too...atleast she thought so.

-Can't think of anything. But will post as soon as Gippal muse comes back X3-
Baralai only gave her a weird look when she poked him, refraining from stepping away in surprised. "Well last time, I wasn't sent to search the premices," he said simply, raising a challenging brow. "And don't call me sir, nor mock Chiana. She did nothing to you, nor does she like me that way. I don't know if it's just you or your belief in Yevonites, but I'd just leave her be for the time being."

Her eyes narrowed in a sharp glare and the playful smile on her face was instantly gone. "I don't care what happened last time, that's the past. This is the future." she told him, obvious anger in her voice. "Plus my beliefs are none of your business, nor are any of the Al Bhed beliefs. Times change, but people don't." Azul moved her head away from him and continued walking. She had tried to be nice, had tried to forget about what she was taught, but it didn't work. "You do not tell me what to do, I can do whatever I want. Plus I can call you whatever I want as well, you're lucky it was only 'sir'." she snapped, clenching her daggers tighter. Was she ticked? You had better believe it. Not good...

Baralai only shruggd. If no one could see that he wasn't a people person by now, well.. they must be pretty ditzy. "Well, call me whatever you want. I'll take it as constructive critisism," he said, stepping past her. "Plus I wasn't telling you as a Praetor, I was telling you as a person, perhaps a friend or whatever it is that you want to call it. If I offend you, I don't mean it. I didn't live around people who played games and had fun very often, so I don't act like that. I'm not as carefree as Gippal is because I've had people breathing down my neck ever since I became Praetor and I was actually going to take a break as you suggested. But seeing as I offended you and made you, well.. pissed off, I'm sure you're going to go on your way and I'll go mine." He had personally thought that they were getting past differences and getting somewhere in a regular friendship, but, of course, he had messed it up.

Azul just stared at him, not sure of what to say exactly. How could someone respond to that? She had just completely pedlrat at him and he was practically apologizing for doing nothing really. Her gaze lowered to the ground and she sighed, cursing her short temper. 'Ugh...how many times have I said sorry today? More times than I've ever said in a whole year...' she thought to herself looking back up at him no more signs of anger. Azul walked over to him, looking away. She didn't like looking at people when she apologized. With a sigh she spoke, "I'm...sorry, again. I get easily angered and many things...tick me off. Sometimes I think someone means one thing when they mean something completely different. It's not you, it's not Yevonites, and it's not...Chiana or whatever...it's just me, so yeah." She shook her head, putting a hand over her face. "Why else do you think everyone likes Rikku better? She's always cheerful and nice, and well....I can't be like that all of the time. She's just the better twin and I've learned to face it."

Baralai stopped and just blinked at her, one brow raised. "The better twin? Azul, you both have your own personalities and better qualities, and also your own flaws, just as I have mine. Rikku gets easily annoying most of the time and she sometimes can't deal with the truth and sometimes even results to physical pain to settle things. From what I've seen, you're a good person with good qualities and always wanting to give out a helping hand to those who need it. You're very kind although that fuse of a temper is rather short sometimes and you can communicate with others, too, whereas I can't even do that," he said in a quiet voice. "You don't always have to be cheerful and nice to be favorited. Rikku.. well, she's just different and craving attention sometimes. If you try to be like her, you would need someone to slap some sense into you. Better yet, Gippal might go after you."
